About Us
When we thought of getting into business together, almost all of us instantly agreed that it had to be something to do with coffee! And so began a delightful journey. Imagine sitting in cafés, sipping different kinds of coffee, and trying to think of the beans, and the roasting processes, and the methods that went into making the same. The new way of working, right?!
The Tavaasa team has spent eons (though it doesn’t seem like it because our workplace was a café!) delving into knowledge about the Coffee Waves, Arabica vs Robusta, Pour-over vs Decoction, and we met so many fabulous baristas who demonstrated their almost magical mad skills when it came to giving us the Perfect Cuppa!
We settled on the name Tavaasa because it was the right blend of everything we wanted – the desire for great coffee, and the knowledge that coffee is never just coffee! It is an emotion, a great way to foster mental well-being, and possesses a mysterious ability to make instant connections.
Our Coffee
As we learnt more about coffee, we realized how little the world knows about it. Even though coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world, very few people know and understand the coffee they consume on a regular basis.
We knew we wanted to do our bit to spread the knowledge, but through delicious cups of coffee, grown and nurtured with love, with ethical practices and an eye on sustainability. So, this is us, and our coffee, spreading knowledge and love.
Our Roastery
We decided to set-up our roastery in Dehradun.
Nestled in the Shivalik Hills, Dehradun has had a love affair with coffee since colonial times. First introduced to coffee by the British, who found this a quaint haven to get away from the bustle of the empire, Dehradun however, has been falling out of love for coffee in the decades since.
Feeling the time was right to reignite the passion between Dehradun and Coffee, we set-up our state-of-the-art roastery here. From our much-loved Diedrich roaster to our fully equipped coffee-lab capable of handling everything from product development to creating of custom blends to full sensory analysis, giving us the ability to provide an end-to-end solution for your coffee / café business.
